I purchased a Guardsman Protection Plan under the impressionbased on the brochure and sales materials providedthat it would cover common fabric issues such as cuts, punctures, tears, and shredding. When my outdoor furniture began to fray and shred, I filed a claim expecting coverage.

Not only was my claim denied, but Guardsmans explanation lacked transparency and referenced vague policy language that I was never provided at the time of purchase.

The only document I received was a promotional brochure that strongly implied this type of damage would be covered.

When I asked for clarification, I received a canned response referencing exclusions under section 7 of a plan Ive never seen. No full policy document was offered upfront, and there was no effort to provide a clear explanation or a way to appeal the decision.

This feels like a bait-and-switch. Consumers deserve to know what theyre actually buyingnot be handed vague documents and then denied coverage for the very issues they were told would be protected.

I do not recommend purchasing a Guardsman protection plan unless you are provided the full legal policy up front and review every line of fine print. This experience has been frustrating, misleading, and a complete waste of time.Misleading Protection Plan and Poor Claim Handling

Claims process is a SCAM

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Spent thousands of dollars on furniture and added the Guardsman protection which Northeast Ohio Factory Direct claim will cover everything. Its an absolute waste of money as the item will clearly show as covered in the protection plan however Guardsman just send an email stating denied.

Save your money and do not purchase the Guardsman protection plan as its all based on the fact that you will never use it.

ALSO- Tell the salesman who is pushing to buy the "Guaranteed protection for stains, rips, tears, etc" that he is full of crap! Now that I have spent probably 4 hours collecting all the pics, files, follow up emails, I get to start over and find new furniture!

They don’t do what they say they are going to do!!

We have been going round and round with these people for a month. They tried to say they couldnt clean our furniture bc we moved or had it in storage.

No we did not move. Its been sitting in the same house same spot for almost five years. Its just one excuse after another. We have been giving every number to contact them and then you get put on hold for so long you have to hang up and call back and try to start all over again.

Do not let any furniture company try to sell you a guardsman protection plan. These people will not help you in any way possible.

Sofa seam repair

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

They determined it's a stress tear on the seem and therefore not covered. Ironically, the only ones that really sit on the sofa is the two 50lb dogs!

Can you imagine the stress tear if grown people regularly sat in it for the last 18 months? So, don't waste the money, you may as well save it for your next set of furniture.

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. Set up appointment.

Tech came out the problem was the motor for the recliner. Ordered part to be delivered here which will take 4 weeks. Are to call tech directly and he will install new motor.

Thank you for your help. It worked

Original review Mar 14, 2025

Sent all pictures requested in February; still, no service call has been made to repair my recliner. This is unacceptable.

I checked on the claim number and said there was no record. I spoke to warranty, and she said they received the claim. What's taking so long?

Claim #3021****. Thank you.

Guardsman is NOT living up to their protection plan .

I purchased a genuine leather recliner love seat from Overstock -$ 3,400 + Overstock also sold me a protection plan from GUARDSMAN protection for FIVE years - I purchased the protection plan - 1 and 1/2 years later - the leather on the love seat began to peel - I notified them on/around Feb 14th that I first noticed the peal . They told me I was a couple days late" in reporting the damage so my protection was disapproved - I have been fighting with them to honor the FIVE YEAR protection plan and assumed protection would last 5 years - with no 10 day restriction between whan I actually noticed the tear and the day I called them I

5 year protection plan and didn''t know there was a limit to the day I spotted the peel and the date I reported it -

The plan is a total scam!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We spent $650 to cover our dining room table and chairs, but our claim was denied. Our cat scratched one of the chairs and Guardsman refuses to fix or replace it.

There are all kinds of clauses in this so-called protection plan. The salesperson who sold this to us claimed it practically covers everything. That was a lie. It was a total waste of money.

I will never buy this insurance again! I'm very disappointed in Havertys for pushing this terrible product!

Horrible service

I purchased a Guardsman protection plan for my Havertys leather recliner sofa purchased in 2021. This sofa has broken now three times and dealing with Guardsman each time has been a nightmare.

The time it takes them to fix it is just ridiculous and not at all reasonable for a 'repair company'.

Getting them to send a link to fill out a claim form, and having them 'answer in the order it was received' takes months. Do not pay for this service.

Protection plan not honored

Contains 2 confidential files for company representatives

I purchased a washer from Wayfair on 10/16/2020 with a 3 year protection plan that should start AFTER the 1 year manufacturers warranty expires per Guardsman service contract terms and conditions (see attached).

Under Effective Date of Coverage of Guardsman protection plan it states; Coverage for a failure resulting from a mechanical or electrical breakdown, as referenced within the definition of failure above begins upon expiration of the shortest portion of the manufacturers original parts and /or labor warranty and continues for the remainder of your term..

I have also attached Hotpoints manufacturers warranty which shows Labor and Parts warranty 1-year entire appliance.

When I called to inquire about my warranty on Tuesday March 5th, a Representative stated that I only had a 2 year warranty and that I needed to send a copy of my invoice showing the purchase of a 3 year warranty. I sent an e-mail with a copy of my 3 year warranty invoice from Wayfair.

I then called back and spoke to a second representative that told me that my 3 year warranty from Guardsman included the 1 year manufacturers warranty plus 2 years protection plan which did not make sense considering that I paid for a 3 year plan with guardsman not a 2 year plan plus a manufacturers warranty. If that were the case that means Guardsman charged me for a 1 year manufacturers warranty which I already had through the manufacturer (Hotpoint).

Cons:
  • Do not honor their contract

Preferred solution: Honor my protection plan.
