Guardsman review in Chicago, Illinois: Ask for anyone other than Cherlynn

1.0
Details
I filed a claim a few years back, Guardsman sent a repairman and the issue was fixed to my satisfaction. Fast forward to this year, when I opened a claim on another piece of furniture. The repairman did an absolutely horrible job. I complained about it to Guardsman and they sent another repairman, who also botched the job. In both instances I spoke with Alex, who was very nice and was genuinely trying to help get the issue fixed. I called again and got a woman, Cherlynn. I asked her to send the repairman from a few years back, but she refused. She told me that I had to take whoever they sent, and that the company was getting tired of my whining. I paid a lot of money for this plan, and to be treated like this is unacceptable. To date this issue is still not fixed as I refused to put up with the inferior repairmen they keep sending. I don't know what her problem is, but I plan to report this to my state's attorney general. I think it's rather telling that there's 46 pages of complaints regarding this company. DO NOT BUY THEIR SERVICE PLAN!

DO NOT PURCHASE GUARDSMAN PROTECTION PLANS. I BOUGHT IT FROM ASHLEY FURNTURE BECAUSE THEY SAID IT WAS A GREAT PLAN AND THEY FIX ANYTHING WITH NO PROBLEM. THAT IS A COMPLETE LIE!!! YOU CAN GO THROUGH THEIR PROCEDURES TO FILE A CLAIM WHICH IS EXHAUSTIVE AND THEN IT WILL TAKE MONTHS FOR ANYONE TO DO ANYTHING AND THEN THEY WILL MAKE A DECISION TO REPLACE THE UNIT WITH THE FURNITURE STORE BECAUSE THEY DONT DO SEVERAL TYPES OF DAMAGES AND IT VOIDS YOUR 5 YEAR PROTECTION AND YOU HAVE TO PAY AGAIN TO RECEIVE THE FURNITURE!! EVEN THE PART THEY CAN FIX THEY TOLD ME SORRY THEY MADE A DECISION .. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN YOU WILL GO ABSOLUTELY MADE TO GET THIS COMPANY TO DO ANYTHING!!

DO NOT PURCHASE GUARDSMAN PROTECTION PLAN

I want to post how disappointed and unsatisfied I am with the guardsman protection plan service. Here is my story. My wife and I purchased a couch at Ashley about 3 months ago. The sales lady there told me about the protection plan I was skeptical about it at first because it was $129 but she assured me that they are very good and cover anything from rips, stains, burns you name it. So we agreed. $129 added on to bill. Well a little while ago my wife was cleaning underneath cushions and she noticed a tear on the bottom of one cushion. We were not happy at all but knew we had the protection plan. We contacted guardsman and they told us to print out these forms to fill out which I think was pointless because we filled out forms sent them in and than received a call that they need more info and that we have to take pictures of the tear. Why wasn't this the first step is beyond me but I know they do that to drag out the process. We than take the required pictures and send them on there site. Here the part where really upsets me. They than contact us by email saying couch is NOT covered under their protection plan because they do not protect against stress tears. That's total BS. So when they try selling the guardsman plan do they need to say everything is covered BUT stress tears. So now should I burn or stain the cushion that I have a tear in? NO because who knows if they will cover that or will they find another excuse or loop hole why its not.I will never purchase this plan again and I'm letting friends and family know about my disappointment in this company.

Guardsman review in Chicago, Illinois: Terrible customer service

Their process to file a complaint is terribly customer unfriendly. They recently denied my service request because I was a few days outside their window to mail the hard copy forms. Their process is that 1) you have to call, 2) go online to upload photos and fill out forms and then after they issue a claim number, meaning that they received the request electronically, 3) you have to mail all those forms. Thanks to the postal service they received my forms a few days outside their window. This is after I purchased 2 Guardsman 5 year gold plans. What really upsets me and is a sign of a unethical company is that when I called to dispute the rejection I couldn't go past the $8.00 / hr customer service rep. Has anyone ever heard of the ability of escalating an issue and actually talking to a person who has the authority to DO RIGHT BY THE CUSTOMER.

Guardsmans "Elite" protection is a SCAM

We purchased a $4000 leather sectional from Ashley Furniture in Nov. 2011. We are 2 adults, work full time, and only sit on the furniture occasionally sit on it. Recently, we came home and noticed scratch marks on 2 of the cushions. We have no idea how they occurred. Did all the things Guardsman tells you to do, within time limits, and we were denied. This is despicable. I would never buy anything with a Guardsman protection plan. I am going to the BBB, but, no one should have to do this. AND, Furniture stores should not be promoting them!

Guradsman is a SCAM. .

.Run. .. .

Purchased sofa and love seat. It is my weekend home and we don't use it during the winter months.

We only sit on this sofa and love seat a couple time a week for half the year for maybe a couple hours. Basically we don't use the furniture. Well, Leather is pealing and Guardsman has trained all there people to use the customer friendly phrase "sorry sir" .. .

. they fix nothing. RUN .

. Guardsman Elite is a SCAM.

I have been scammed by guardsman! Jeromes furniture sold me on this 5 year full protection plan from guardsman which is a complete SCAM.

I have a leather chaise which part of the seat cushion stitching has came apart on two sections. It's only 1 year and a couple months old. I just got a letter from guardsman denying my claim. Jeromes sold this as a full protection plan but Guardsman is saying it doesn't cover it under the terms of their agreement.

Jeromes should be embarrassed and ashamed to be selling such a rip off scam to their loyal customers. Guardsman is just a Fake insurance company that uses confusing terminology that hoards of lawyers have come up with. Their main business plan is to use a bait and switch and run their customers around in circles before and deny 99% of claims. Finally all we can do as customers is complain to the BBB and the company you purchased the furniture from.

It's sad to see businesses out there like Guardsman taking advantage of hard working Americans at such a tough time. I hope karma catches up too them soon and they become obsolete.

I hear you. I purchased living room set from BOBS just over 2 years ago.

Had issue with cushions and sinking feeling when I sat on them. I weigh 215 pounds not a big issue. All claims have to be reported within 5 days. I called made a complaint and waited.

A month later I get call and never occured to me the timing of things so I said a month when I made original call. Turns out I too got denied. Waste of money all they are good for is cleaning furnioture and even then it;s *** because you have to submit pictures and email them.

I also did this late December and not one call. These plans are worth ***.

Guardsman Furniture Proctection Plan - Awful

This year a rod of some sort came poking right through the fabric of my recliner. Filled out the paperwork, sent it in. Later, rejected my service request stating it was not covered. Read through my service agreement from them, it states: "What is Covered: #3 Any puncture, cut, tear or rip from a specific incident or caused by defective fruniture mechanism. I called,of course closed, left message for "Tiffany" account manager. Never called back. Called again and talked to agent, told him what my agreement stated and said he has never heard that coverage. I faxed it to him and now waiting for a call back. Their agents don't even know what's covered from their own agreement. I will give update when it happens.
