I got the 5 year protection plan and called Guardsman to fix rips in the seams of both my sofa and love seat. They told be that seam rips are normal wear and tear and are not covered.

I have no kinds or pets. I don't think my sitting on the couch is abnormal. Isn't that what a sofa and love seat is for. What a waste of $180.

I would not recommend anyone buy a guardsman warranty.

I think because the person selling the warranty at the store gets extra commission. That a great *** - sell something that you have no intention of supporting.

If furniture insurance is important to you donโ€™t buy furniture from stores that feature Guardsman products this insurance was recommended by Ashles Furniture. The dye on one of the leather cushions failed Guardsman refused to make repairs saying that it was not covered.

I agree Guardsman is a rip-off

Most of the reviews I am reading are from people that did not read the warranty. guardsman only covers accidental tears rips stains and burns.

Peeling furniture is not accidental. Breaking mechanisms are not accidental. Read the warranties before you buy. Peeling faux leather is a manufacturers issue.

Breaking frames, if not abused would be a manufacturers defect. I sell furniture and guardsman warranties. Guardsman has been good to my customers who use it as recommended. To think it is just another way of making a commission is silly.

The time it takes to present a warranty to a customer costs a salesperson another turn at a buying customer. Amazes me when customers think we make millions selling a $100.00 warranty.

DO NOT DET THIS WARRANTY. IT IS NOT WORTH A DIME!!!!!!

We also bought the Warranty, we have a sectional where there is a pull cord to pull out the recliner for one of the recliners on the sofa, this pull cord snapped (with NORMAL use). They replaced it with one that again snapped and we were told that since we had it replaced, the warranty is then VOID.

Since WHEN, when this was sold to us, we were told that ANYTHING was covered. Then DON'T Forget, you MUST call within 30 days or that too means the repairs won't be done.

They require you to call them, give them an email address, print out forms, mail the forms then when they get around to it they call you, if you tell them it happened more than 30 days ago, REGARDLESS of the fact it took them 3 weeks to process your request, "sorry, it's been too long since this happened"! Give me a break what a RIP OFF!!

My wife and I too bought a sofa sectional from Ashley furniture and were lead to buy the Guardsman warranty. We were told by the sales rep, that if anything would happen to the couch, that this warranty would assure its repair.

Well, like others on this site we first went to Ashley to report that the faux leather couch we had bought was peeling and tearing away from the backing material. We were told, no problem you bought the warranty, contact Guardsman. So we did. Not hearing from anyone from Guardsman after making our report, my wife contacted Guardsman and was told, that the damage we described was not covered, and our claim denied.

Sound familiar? After long conversations with their "Service Manager Lisa", which took place by both my wife and I at separate times. I was given inconsistencies as to what the warranty covered and didn't. It became obvious that Guardsman is nothing more than a waste of money.

As someone else said, it's a way to fish more dollars from the consumer for a service you'll most likely never realize unless your request meets a very narrow and semantically correct definition. In short it's a scam. Save your money. I will never buy another item from Ashley furniture, nor will I ever entertain the idea of purchasing anything with the Guardsman name on it.

Buyer beware!

I purchased the coverage as well. I'm sooooo mad!

I've got a big tear in my leather couch however Guardsman doesn't cover this area !! First they said me they didn't cover my leather then said "the area".

I bought a leather couch and love seat for LAZYBOY in June of this year. They recommended that I purchase the Guardsman warrenty.

Last week I noticed a tear in love seat. I called and filed a claim. Three days later I was notified by e-mail that the claim was denied. They said that a scratch is not covered (at no time did I say it was a scratch).

When I called to clear this up I was told that the claim was now being denied because I could not give them an exact time when the tear happened.

I am so mad. I can't believe a company can get away with this.

We are going through the same nightmare with Guardsman. We were told that we had to buy the warranty when we bought our kitchen and dining room suites.

We paid $299. We have a few scratches and dents on our tables and chairs form accidents like a guest's bracelet scratching the table, a book a scratching the table, a candlestick falling on the table and making a dent, a large crack in the buffet from faulty workmanship and scratches on the chair backs from accidently being pushed against the counter. All of these damages, we were told when we bought the warranty would be covered. Also, in the policy that we have, it says that these things are covered.

We completed the online forms and sent in pictures of the damages. Then we were told that we had to print off forms and complete them and mail them in along with the online forms. Then we were told that the pictures were not clear and we had to take them again and send them again. Then we were told that the receipt was not clear and we had to have the store fax another one to them.

Then we were told that we did not do this all within a timely manner and so we had to redo it again. Then we received an email and were told that a "qualified technician" would come out and do the repairs to all the furniture, except the items listed below. The list included all the furniture that we had submitted a claim for .

We called and asked for clarification and they said that we did not submit the claim within 5 days of the furniture being damaged so we will not be recieving any repairs. We are beside ourselves with frustration!!!

We bought the plane on a new sofa from Haverty's in Lewisville, TX on June 10, 2010. September 9, 2012 we turned our back cushions over, something we do every week, and found two tears.

We filed a claim by phone by the next day and had our paper work in before the ten days.

Guardsman sent us a letter dated September 21, 2012 denying the claim because the damage was "caused by defects in material or workmanship."

What load of lies!! Had this been workmanship we would have seen this damage within the last two years. This damage was caused by a specific event, we just didn't see the event.

If you are buying furniture do not pay these crooks a dime.

i also bought the 5 years warranty and i have done 2 service repair with them one was not cover because they were stains and they dont cover them. the other one is the place were i bought the living room set has close so they can not fix the sofa cause they need parts and the manufacture is already close like if it was my fault they close there doors.they wanted to return money but i need the original papers of how much i paid for the warranty which i dont have . so that is a loss to me.

I had two different claims denied. They said water marks and scratches weren't covered but the pamphlet says it is included!

I purchased a warranty, and filed a claim with them. Not only did it take forever to get the claim processed, made phone call, the sent an email, filled out claim, had to send pics, print out claim only to mail it in.

Wait, and then be told, nope! Because you didnt know the origin of the stain, we will not cover it! And the guy was so rude! I WILL make sure my future stains will pay for the warranty.

Cant wait for them to "happen". I know now who I am dealing with.

I will get my moneys worth! Never again will I purchase their warranty!

You know i am having the same issue. I got Guardsman warranty through Ashley furniture.

I got the 5 year elite plan which i think i paid extra $200 or so. I called them for warranty support and they sent a form for me to fill out and send it to them. My rocker chair is squeaking and the leather is not ripping, but peeling off. They sent me a letter few weeks later that the reported damage on the furniture is not covered.

I do remember the guy selling me the warranty, you get a tear on the couch, your son accedently cuts it with knife, everything is covered. If they are not able to fix it, they will replace the piece. WHAT A BS!!!!!

i really don't know what I can do now? Does anyone konw if we can take this to BBB or anything, I have read so many different posts on this and i am wondering if anyone had any success taking this type of ripp-offs through legal?

Guest

I filled a report with them because our sofa recliner is broken. They said that they got the report before the manufacturer warranty was out...yet they held it until the manufacturer warranty was out.

Surprise they found a loop hole. They were rude and a big rip off.

They never planned to pay! Whay a big rip off!!We should have never paid the extra to get our furniture covered.

We bought a leather sofa and fabric chair from Bassett Furniture in Grand Junction, Colorado about two years ago. We also purchased the warranty plan from Guardsman--BIG MISTAKE!!

When we tried to use the warranty it was denied because we did not know the orgin of the stain on the sofa. We asked Jennifer the reprensentative from Guardsman if some one could come and inspect the damage. That was also denied.

Never purchase the GUARDSMAN WARRANTY PLAN.

We bought our recliners in Aug of 2011 and were told all would be covered. A pen rolled off of a table and marked the chair.

No coverage.

Not much is covered. False advertising

I bought bunk beds & dressers from Mor furniture & bought the Guardsman warranty on it which is a rip off. My daughter spilled nail polish on it like 3 days after I bought it & called to report it the same day.

They send me a denail notice saying that there was a damage done before I called when I called the same day. They are a huge rip off & will not cover your warranty do not buy it.
