I purchased a leather sleeper sofa from Haverty's and purchased Guardsman Protection 4 yrs ago I submitted a claim due to springs in the cushions collapsing and leather color wearing off. I submitted the claim and photos on-line. After waiting several weeks I called to find out the status and they told me I had to MAIL in the form. I don't understand why I have to hand write on a form to be mailed in when it's 2016. Oh btw, they have my photos that I uploaded on-line. So I found an envelope, mailed in my handwritten form to only be turned down for not turning my form in in a timely manner. They take your money, provide out dated ways to submit your claim only to keep your money and not to honor what you purchased. Get with the times. How do you not accept forms on-line which are black and white but you accept pictures on-line? I guess I should have filled out the form with a quill and ink then had it pigeon carried until it reached the pony express to be delivered.

Guardsman denied a claim on a technicality

Worst service ever! I called in a claim and explained what happened, that there was a worn area and I sat down and tore it. I was told because I did not explain in greater detail, my claim is denied as normal wear and tear. I then said, sorry, I did not provide enough detail, let me explain further and I was told, too late. You were not detailed enough, so claim is denied. I apologized and explained that detail to me meant to say what happened. A worn spot tore seemed enough to me and there is no opportunity to correct. They told me next time I should just understand the word detailed. The manager then went on to explain to me what detail means and belittle me. She then told me I was using semantics and I was actually just trying to give the requested detail. I then asked to speak to a Director or Vice President and I was told they did not have any.

service plan bought through havertys technician didnt clean listed stains then told me to buy non guardsman products and clean it myself as he did not have the time. When i called to complain found out he works with his mother who of course backed him up and did not resend or offer any additional service. Called 1800 number did not get any results. be weary of these pre paid service plans they stink. They contract out to random contractors who dont have to do quality service and do not have any oversight within the company. They also told me they fired any techniqcians that do a thorough job.

Guardsman 5 Year Scam

Just spoke to Guardsman today. They informed me that although I purchased their *** protection plan, they will not be coming out to fix my sofa because...wait for it.... my paperwork took JUST OVER 10 DAYS TO REACH THEM! I should mention that the cracked frame on my sofa is due to a imperfection in the wood & has been repaired (very shoddily) by one of Guardsman's goons already. Guess what? It broke again...in the exact same place. If anyone is really interested in a class action suit against this disgrace of a company, please contact me at stacey0970@comcast.net. Also, is there anything that anyone has done to get a result? I'll be contacting By Design's corporate headquarters in the morning. After that, I'm at a loss as to what to do. Thanks.

Just got denied on my claim becasue I didn't report the damage in 5 days and they didn't receive my form (which I had to mail) in 10 days. When I called all the people I spoke to had pat answers for rejection.

They use shady business practices to reject as many claims as possible and try and discourage customers from pursuing valid claims. I will be doing all I can to warn people of this scam company!!!

I too am going through the same exact thing as you with this company. I had filed a claim in late october 2010, recieved the emailed form about three days later.

The form of course had to be printed out and mailed as an email or fax would be to covienent for them to process. I mailed the said form approx a week prior to thanksgiving however they did not process it until Dec 13th! They advised me they would not process my claim due to the fact the thirty day time limit expired on it. I think no matter what you do or say to this company they find a way to not honor your claim.

Bob's Discount Furniture who sold this plan does not want to hear anything about it and pass the responsibility to a fraudulent company. I have contacted the Michigan State's Attorney office and will file a claim through them. If they can not get anywhere with them, I plan on suing the furniture place and Guardsman.

I find it hard to believe they can still be in business with all the negative comments about them on the internet. I am sure if everyone who has been wronged by this company contacts the Michigan State's Attorney Office they will be forced to take action against them.

I have the same problem with my couch as anonymous. My leather couch is flaking after only three years.

We bought the couch from Thomasville, so please add this to the furniture stores you don't trust.

They will not stand behind the product and told us to contact Valspar. After reading all of the above posts we realize that it will be a waste of time.
