Dishonest; Rip Off

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

"the required timeframe for damage was not met" That was their response to our claim..

Exactly how quick do you have to report the damage? One second?

Five seconds? Because we made the claim the very next day during BUSINESS HOURS and they denied our claim due to the time frame not being met? Are they serious??

We purchased the furniture through Marksons Furniture in Rochester, New York. They sold us this insurance plan therefore they are partly responsible.

I'm not done fighting this anymore than I will remain quiet.

I do not like when Corporations/Businesses RIP OFF American consumers. If I can't win, then I will do my best to persuade people from buying their services.

Note:

Noticed below asking for proof, I can get proof but I'm thinking consumers will take my word for it since I don't make it a habit to waste my time making false claims about businesses.

I'm a proud American and would never make false claims to hurt any business that didn't have it coming to them. This one does..!

Bought their protection plan for five years. Coating on the leather began to come off. I filed a claim and was told two months later that they do not cover wear. It is not worn but faulty product. After waiting twenty minutes a very rude lady picked up the phone. She was no help. I bought the plan at Nebraska Furniture. Will never shop there again

We recently purchased 2 lazyboy leather recliner sofas. The leather on one cushion has delaminates in several spots. We contacted guardsman and they stated without looking at it! It was not covered. I have come to the conclusion that these furniture protection plans are a scam. In the future I would advise not purchasing an insurance plan from any of these companies without doing a through investigation. Save yourself some money

All I can say is Guardsman is an unethical business that should be prosecuted for fraud. 2.5 years ago we bought furniture from Haverty's and Guardsman furniture protection plan. This year we placed a claim in May - no answer. We repeated in June, received a letter that technician will come. He came, sent a letter that he sent inspection results to Guardsman. After that we received a message that Guardsman sent me an email and I have to respond to it, Did not receive any emails. I called Guardsman 4 times. It was very difficult to get through because very long waiting times and I was disconnected at the end. Finally I reached somebody, asked to send me an emai. Was promised that I will get it in a few minutes. Got tired waiting...

COMPLETE FRAUD! Retailers who sell this warranty should be forced to refund consumers

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Convoluted claim process purposely implemented to delay and misinform on claims. Complete coverage is a complete scam. Either they deny claims due to their own broken process or they give you some BS excuse. Shame on Overstock and other online retailers who even sell this crap warranty and steal their consumers money.

We bought a sofa from Bassett and purchased the extra Guardsman protection after being told that if anything covered under the plan happened to the sofa within 5 years, they would repair or replace the sofa. Well, our claim was approved, but they cannot replace the broken mechanism or the entire sofa because it is discontinued. Instead, they have offered us a cash settlement for 1/20 the cost of a comparable replacement sofa or an in-store credit for 1/10 the cost of a comparable replacement sofa... This is not at all what we were led to believe would happen. We would never purchase this 'protection plan' again.

Thank you. I should have did my homework before purchasing.

I’m in the same position you’re in today. It took many callback to get a status on claim. They finally sent a person out. He said he would try to order parts but the parts evidently wasn’t available.

Our letter said they are reviewing our claim. Our sofa is only a year old. We found out it was a discontinued sofa. I’ve been trying to get them for several days to get a status on the replacement but you hold for hours.

I will never purchase this again. It’s better to take your chances then deal with the frustration.

I also recommend adding your experience on Yelp. If my outcome is the same, I will be adding a review there.

The BBB is not the retail police. They are a for profit organization and if you pay their membership fee you get an A+ rating.

They have zero power to resolve your issues. Sure they will call on your behalf but the reality is they are protecting their members. Warranties and insurance on furniture are extremely difficult to collect on. The why is quite simple.

You are trying to get someone to do work for what amounts to ZERO profit for them. Do you work for free? Do YOU expect to do work and not get paid? Because that is what you ask them to do each and every time a warranty or insurance repair is needed.

Your best bet is to take the money and just buy a new couch.

Then avoid the insurance coverage. It’s many times easier and cheaper to just do the fix yourself then try and get them to pay.

On my claim form, I did not state the exact reason for the fading mark on my dining table top, so they are denying my claim. I wasn't sure if the mark is from a liquid ring or a heat mark. Both of which are on covered on my contract. They also state that I am not allowed to re-submit my claim, being more specific. My opinion is their reasoning is bogus.

Guardsman products are toxic chemicals. Read the labels before buying any of the Guardsman products.

Original review Feb 24, 2020
Guardsman is a scam.Everyone knows and consumers should do their research before buying. An educated consumer can change the way businesses run if they want to remain proficient. A business is destroyed when perception from the public turns against them. Resigning employees, failing stocks, customers leaving to buy from competitors with better prices should be a wake-up call. 74% of people choose to buy a companys stock based on the integrity of the company. 80% of people choose to purchase services and products from a company based on their honesty. When a company or business loses its ethics or reputation, it loses its entire operations. Most recently Haverty Furniture Companies Inc. (HVT) had a rough trading day for Wednesday February 19, 2020 as their shares tumbled 15.25%, or a loss of $-3.09 per share, to close at $17.17. The company is headed down the rabbit hole of no return. Poor management and lack of listening skills to what customers really want.

We have a very expensive lazy boy chair. We called in and submitted a claim regarding a noise. They told me I did not submit it within five days of hearing noise. I submitted another claim a month later that chair was leaning and making a clunking noise. Claim was denied and according to them damage was the same and was due to failure to report in time frame first time. How do they know they did not come out and look at it. They are rude and it is a racket to get your money. Never again and they could care less what you write about them.
