As per the brochure I received, I called Guardsman right away to submit a claim about the frame of my couch being damaged. Over the phone, the rep told me I would have to fill out a form and submit it within 30 days of receiving it. The form arrives via email the next day, Nov. 6. I go to fill it out at work and then realize that I have to submit several pictures that are very specifically sized so I can't do it right then. Over the next two weeks, I move houses AND offices at work, then Thanksgiving. EXTREMELY busy time. I finally get my pictures taken/sized, fill out the online form, and THEN print the whole *** thing and send it in the mail to Guardsman. This is early morning Dec. 1, so mail was postmarked for that day. I am in KY, they are in MI. Not that far. Yesterday, I got an email saying they are denying my claim because they did not receive it in the time stated in terms and conditions. I call to question this, and the rep tells me they received it December 7 so I'm out of luck and "they just can't do anything for me." 1. I submitted it WITHIN 30 DAYS of the initial request; check the postmark. Why would you go be a 'receive by' date, as that means you have to rely on a system (Post Office) whose timeliness cannot be controlled? What happens if your form is lost in the mail? 2. Are you seriously telling me, that besides the fact that I DID follow your directions to the letter, you would be that awful at customer service that you would deny me a claim because I missed it by 24 hours? What kind of business does this? I should point out that if they accepted mail on Saturdays, then my form would have arrived on Saturday, Dec. 5, which WOULD have put me within their 30-day "receive by" range. When I asked to speak to a manager, she referred me to the "escalation department", which immediately took me to a voicemail because it said all reps were busy. I have not heard anything yet. I will never, ever buy this protection plan again. I followed the directions exactly as requested and am still being denied a claim because they decided to pull out a technicality. I am also emailing the Haverty's rep who sold me on it and telling him that I will no longer be patronizing their store, either. What a waste of $200.

Don't waste your money, guardsman will find any loop hole not to resolve your claim!!! Can't get to the CEO only have their "robotic" service reps tell you why your not covered, very disconcertin. SAVE your money!

I have a vanity top that was damaged with markers from my daughters and her friends coloring on top of it. It was denied - but of course anyone who has had one of these policies knew that already - because of the "Misuse" section - it was not "accidental". Accidental I'm told is when the child's marker goes off the side of the paper. Someone has never had kids. I was told by the sales person that if it was damaged in any way this policy would take care of it - NOT TRUE! Apparently, there are not conditions under which the policy will take care of it. They actually sent someone out to my house to repair it. He said he would get tops and replace the tops of the dresser. Then I received a letter in the mail saying the damage was more than I submitted and they would not cover it. What!???

HAPPY with the product - Guardsman Revitalizing Wood Polish

I have used Guardsman for over 10 years and have no complaints about it at all. Used on a regular basis, my wooden furniture has maintained a healthy luster and does not attract dust or dirt. I use a cotton clothe and find Guardsman makes dusting easy - it picks up the dust rather than creating static. In addition, it has restored some pieces where the surface of the furniture had abraded through the finish (on boys dressers). Just a few uses of Guardsman over a week and the surface had a uniform and polished appearance. I would highly recommend this product.

I purchased two chairs from Ashley furniture less than three years ago and purchased the guardsman five year protection for each chair. I submitted a claim for tears in both headrests. I was told by a guardsman rep. That a tech would come to our house and inspect/ fix the damage. A few days later I received an email stating that our problem was a peeling problem and not covered, site unseen. I knew that I was being taken for a ride at this point.. After four emails, sendings pictures and two more phone calls(both placed on hold for over 25 minutes and one with an extremely rude and sarcastic representative, I was told that it was what was first described. Peeling. Please see photo. I usually don't post items but I would warn not to buy this Product from this company I have also been ignored by Ashley at this point. Hope to hear from them since guardsman suggest it is a manufacturing issue

Guardsman and furniture protection plans like it are scams. Most respectable furniture stores do not sell these programs because as an after market purchase the plans do not follow through with warranty claims. Their is always a issue or clause toget the out of any responsibility.

We purchased the 5 year plan when we bought our sofa and love seat. After two years, we had damage on one cushion. Its very clear it is only on one cushion so it is not wear and tear. They refused to cover it because I did not word my claim correctly. I am beyond angry right now. $200 for absolutely nothing. Horrible! I called back to speak to a supervisor who was of no help. I said if this plan does not cover what it said it did, I wanted to cancel it and get a refund. I was told that also would not happen. I don't know the last time I had such a terrible customer service experience.

I bought a warranty for $250.00, they claim they cover everything!! My leather peeled and they denied claim. After that the arm broke off and they denied claim. They even said that the leather peeling was "normal wear and tear". The chair is a couple of years old and they make you jump through hoops and then they deny you!! You have to take pics and submit in 10 days and then they will send someone to look at it; (the window is all day). Not only did I have to stay home all day, I had to call, email, and take pictures. Never again will I buy guardsman/guardsman warranty.
